Kayan Beauties selected for Asean Film Festival

"Kayan Beauties" has been selected to compete in the Asean Film Festival in Malaysia while two other films will be screened at the event, reports said.
"When we sent three Myanmar films for the Asean film festival and "Kayan Beauties" was allowed to compete as it matches the rules and the other two films were allowed for public screening at the film festival," said Win Kyi from the Myanmar Motion Picture Organisation.
"(Veteran) actor Aung Lwin was also invited as one of the international judges for the festival. We hope to get many good experiences from this film festival," he added.
"Kayan Beauties" is about three Kayan women who tried to search for a girl kidnapped by human traffickers. It is the first film about the Kayan race, otherwise known as the Padaung, whose women are famous for their brass neck coils.
The film's director Aung Ko Latt and its script writer Mr Hector will be attending the film festival along with Khin Sine, the producer of "(I Want to) Pay Back the Gratitude Owned to My Mother", Maung Myo Min, the director of "With Many Hopes" and Swe Zin Htike from the international committee of Myanmar Motion Picture Organisation.
The Asean Film Festival will held in Sarawak, the northwestern city of Malaysia from March 28 to 30.
