The association of HUFS tennis clubs, “HUFS,” took part in the 2022 Center of Korea College Club Tennis Championship. The competition was held at Yanggu Tennis Park, Center of Korea Tennis Court, and Nam-myeon Tennis Court (located in Yanggu-gun) in Gangwon-do for five days from August 13 (Saturday) to 17 (Wednesday), 2022.
Sponsored by Korea Tennis Association and organized by Gangwon News, which is celebrating its 77th anniversary this year, Korea University Tennis Federation, Gangwon-do Tennis Association, and Yanggu-gun, the 2022 Center of Korea College Club Tennis Championship marked the 35th annual edition of the event. First held in the form of a team match in Seoul in 1988, it now has its own distinct history and tradition. This year’s competition featured a college men’s team match, a college women’s team match, a college men’s singles match, a college women’s singles match, and a beginner team match. The tournament was joined by some 1,752 college tennis players, proving its national scale.
HUFS Seoul Campus tennis club HUFS Tennis (led by Professor Park Min-Young) and HUFS Global Campus tennis club HUFS ACE (led by Professor Lee Seung-Pil) joined the tournament as the unified team “HUFS” with 41 student athletes, including 25 from the Seoul Campus and 16 from the Global Campus. Team HUFS has participated in the competition with five student athletes in each of the singles and doubles team events since 2020.
Its College Men’s Team A ranked third at the Championship. The team consists of students Kim Jeong-Hoon (Spanish, entry class of ’17), Song Heon-Hyung (Spanish, entry class of ’18), Song Hyung-Seok (Japanese Language, Literature and Culture, entry class of ’17), Shin Sang-Hyuk (Global Sports Industry, entry class of ’16), and Cho Doo-Jin (Industrial and Management Engineering, entry class of ’17).
Student Jung Hee-Seo (Global Sports Industry, entry class of ’21) took part in the singles match event and won the Freshmen League tournament.
