The HUFS Jean Monnet Center of Excellence (JMCE, Director Kim Si-hong) held an academic workshop at the Jeju Peace Institute (JPI) on January 15, 2018. The conference was jointly held with JPI under the title of "EU-East Asia Relations: From the Perspective of Inter-Regionalism".
The workshop was attended by JPI Director Seo Jung-ha (former Korean Ambassador to Hungary) and other JPI officers and scholars as well as HUFS JMCE Director Kim Si-hong, JMCE Assistant Director Kim Bong-chul, and other HUFS professors and researchers.
The event served as an excellent venue to explore theories and methodologies on inter-regional cooperation and discuss cooperation among the European Union, East Asia, and ASEAN nations as a case study of inter-regionalism. On the sidelines of the Jeju workshop, HUFS JMCE looked back on its one and a half years of works and endeavors and its plan for the New Year. As this year marks the 40th anniversary of HUFS European studies, they explored possible areas of improvement regarding the undergraduate and graduate curricula of the European Union Studies program at HUFS.
