Cho Jin-young, Lee Yu-kyeong, and Kang Mun-jeong, students from the HUFS Industrial and Management Department won third place in the INFORMS 2019 Analytics & O.R Student Team Competition held in Austin, in the U.S. last April with their presentation on "A combined approach of reinforcement learning and mathematical programming for a real-world outbound supply chain optimization."
INFORMS is the world’s largest management science association, and this year’s Student Team Competition hosted 292 teams from 25 countries around the world. The HUFS Industrial and Management Department team was among the final six teams that made it into the final. The achievement is even more significant and meaningful considering that the HUFS team is comprised entirely of undergraduates while most of the other finalists were graduates. The HUFS team won the competition two years in a row.
