The HUFS IFTA team won at the 2019 College Students’ Best FTA Utilization Idea Contest jointly held by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Korea International Trade Association (KITA). The IFTA team consists of students from the Department of International Trade (Jang Min-Seo, Park Ju-Seong, Gwak Hae-Ri, Kim So-Hyeong, and Han Hye-Jung). At the awards ceremony held on September 9, 2019, the IFTA team was honored with the KITA CEO Award (excellence prize).
The competition called for hypothetical FTA utilization cases for business success or FTA utilization policy ideas applicable to businesses. After an initial round of document review, eight teams were selected for the main competition and then reduced down to the finalists after final round presentations.
Student Jang Min-Seo said of the contest, “Even if a small-size company is equipped with high-level human and technological capital, it may face limitations due to various factors. I felt very strongly that support from related government departments and agencies is very important in overcoming such limitations.” Expressing her gratitude, she went on to say, “Thanks to advice from our professors, overseas sales and logistics experts, and last year’s award winners, we were able to formulate high-quality hypothetical success cases.”
