On Wednesday, January 30, 2013, Hafiz Pashayev, Rector of Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, visited Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS).
In a meeting with Ambassador Pashayev, HUFS President Park Chul agreed to cooperate closely with the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy to reinforce HUFS’s important role in producing talents in the field of diplomacy and to see more HUFS graduates selected as diplomats through the Korea National Diplomatic Academy. Ambassador Pashayev proposed exchange programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as joint research in the field of energy security. He also stressed the need for mutual cooperation between the two educational institutes in the establishment of a new Silk Road of the 21st century that leads from the shores of the Caspian Sea and Black Sea to Korea.
President Park emphasized the need to begin connecting the natural resources of Azerbaijan and its surrounding regions with the human resources of Korea. President Park affirmed that “HUFS will take an active role in transmitting Korea’s experience in education and economic growth to Azerbaijan.”
In October 2012, HUFS became the first university in Korea to conclude an academic and student exchange cooperation agreement with the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy. The two institutes have agreed to jointly operate a Central Asia regional specialist education program and student exchange program.
