On Friday, May 3, 2013, HUFS and the University of Yangon held a ceremony at the University of Yangon, Myanmar to sign an MOU.
Park Chul, President of HUFS, and Tin Tun, President of the University of Yangon, signed the MOU and agreed to cooperate with each other for the mutual development in education and research areas of the two universities.
Marking a first for a Korean university, HUFS signed an MOU with the University of Yangon, under which the two universities will pursue academic research and exchange programs such as professor and student exchanges and joint research.
After his special speech at HUFS on March 26, 2012, President Barack Obama also delivered a speech on November 19 about the 'Light of Change' at the University of Yangon. Park Jin, a chair-professor at the Graduate School of International and Area Studies, Jang Tae Yeob, Director of International Exchange Office, and Lee Byeong Do, Director of Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, attended the MOU signing ceremony with the participation of key members of the University of Yangon.
After entering into the MOU, an agreement ceremony was held to renew the exchange agreement between HUFS and Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University (USSH-VNU) at 10 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2013.
President Park Chul of HUFS made his first ever visit to USSH-VNU to conclude an MOU with USSH-VNU’s Rector Nguyen Van Khanh where the two leaders also agreed to pursue exchanges in academic research including joint research and exchanges of students and faculty.
On Tuesday, May 14, President Park visited Hanoi University of Languages and International Studies - Vietnam National University (ULIS-VNU) to sign an MOU with its Vice President Nguyen Lan Trung, agreeing to cooperate in various fields for mutual development.
In the afternoon of the same day, Park met with VNU President Phung Xuan Nha for two hours to discuss the close cooperation between the two institutions and agreed to sign an MOU for bilateral exchange and cooperation. President Phung also agreed to conclude an MOU with Cyber HUFS and promised to pay a return visit to HUFS in September.
The signing ceremonies at USSH-VNU and ULIS-VNU, and the meeting with President Phung Xuan Nha were also attended by HUFS’s Jang Tae Yeob, Director of the International Exchange Office, and Park Joong-chan, the head of the Global Leadership Academy.
