On August 31, HUFS hosted the 5th Sino-Korean University Presidents Forum in the Obama Hall of HUFS’s Seoul Campus.
The forum, co-hosted by the Korean Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, was presided over by HUFS and involved some 150 participants, including 32 presidents and over 80 personnel from Korean universities, and 25 presidents and over 70 personnel from Chinese universities.
Under the dual themes of "embarking on a new Sino-Korean era" and "encouraging cooperation in higher education," discussions at the forum centered on plans for cooperation between Korean and Chinese universities and more active exchanges between the two countries.
President Park Chul of HUFS said, "This forum is very meaningful in that it is the first since Korean President Park Geun-hye met with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Sino-Korean summit." He suggested that, as an outgrowth of the forum discussions, the Seoul Joint Declaration provide for an expansion of the Campus Asia Project and more efficient operation of the Sino-Korean University Presidents Forum. This year marked the fifth time the forum has been held.
