Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Seoul commonly known as Indian Cultural Centre announces the launch of SARANG - The 6th Annual Festival of India in Republic of Korea from October 16, 2020. This Festival has been organized every year since the year 2015 by the Indian Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Seoul, in partnership with various local bodies. The aim has been to introduce Indian dance, music, film, cuisine and art to the people of Korea. The Centre has succeeded to a great extent in this quest and SARANG has now become a much looked forward event in the Korean cultural calendar. Usually, it extends for over a month and travels through different cities of Republic of Korea. Given the travel restrictions and physical distancing norms imposed due to the challenges caused by the global pandemic in recent times, this year The Festival of India - SARANG 2020 is being organised via Video Conference (Online applications/Live streaming/ TV/ Radio broadcast etc).
주한인도대사관과 인도문화원이 주최하는 연례 축제인 ‘사랑-인도문화축제’가 2020년 10월 16일 시작한다. 2015년부터 주한인도대사관과 인도문화원은 한국의 다양한 기관들과 협력하여 매년 인도문화축제를 진행하며 인도의 춤, 음악, 영화, 음식과 미술 등을 소개 해 왔다. 한달여간 한국의 다양한 지역을 순회하며 다채로운 인도 문화를 선보이는 인도문화축제는 이제 많은 이들이 기다리는 연례 행사가 되었다. 코로나 대유행으로 권장되는 여행 제한과 사회적거리두기를 감안하여 올해의 ‘사랑-인도문화축제’는 온라인으로 기획되었다. Online Inauguration with Mr. Imtiaz Ali and Mr. Lucky, 16 October at 1600 (KST) / 1230 (IST)

The Inaugural Session will be hosted by the Cultural Centre Online on 16th October 2020 which will feature a LIVE interaction with Mr. Imtiaz Ali, a noted Indian Film Director whose block buster films like ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Rockstar’, ‘Highway’ and ‘Love Aaj Kal’ have created records in the box office. Mr Lucky, an Indian TV personality in Korea and restaurateur will be in conversation with Mr. Imtiaz Ali which will be followed by the LIVE interaction by the participants.
2020년 10월 16일 진행될 개막식에서는 ＇우리가 만났을때Jab We Met＇, ＇락스타Rockstar＇, ＇하이웨이Highway＇, ＇오늘날의 사랑Love Aaj Kal＇과 같은 블록버스터 영화로 박스오피스에서 기록을 세운 유명 인도 영화감독 임티아즈 알리 (Imtiaz Ali) 와의 만남이 예정돼 있다. 인도 출신 방송인 럭키(Lucky)가 임티아즈 알리 감독과 대화를 나누며 관객들과의 교류의 시간을 가질 예정이다.

Sarang in Nami Island, 17-18 October
남이섬에서 만나는 인도문화, 10월 17-18일
A glimpse of the Indian Culture will also be showcased at Nami Island famous for its scenic beauty and picturesque surrounding on 17-18 October 2020. It will host the Classical Indian Odissi dance recital by Korean Odissi Dancer Ms. Beena Keum and her group. Kathak dance will be performed by Ms Oh Sukhee, Korean Kathak dancer. A student’s dance group ‘Saraswati’ from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies will dance on the tune of famous Bollywood numbers. Keeping in tune with nature, Yoga Sessions will also be organized at the mystic gardens of Nami Island famous for its incredible scenery and beautiful landscape.
2020년 10월 17~18일에는 그림같이 아름답기로 유명한 남이섬에서도 인도 문화를 만날 수 있다. 한국인 오디시 무용가 금빛나와 까탁 무용가 오숙희의 인도 고전 무용 리사이틀과 한국외국어대학교 춤동아리 사라스와띠의 발리우드댄스 공연을 선보인다. 아름다운 남이섬의 자연과 함께하는 요가 세션도 준비 돼 있다.

밀양시에서는 10월 31일 요가 콘서트를 온라인으로 진행한다. 코로나 19 대유행으로 인한 여러가지 제약과 그로인해 여러모로 둔화된 우리의 일상에 요가 콘서트를 통해 스트레스와 불확실성, 고립에 대처하며 건강한 신체를 유지하게 해 주는 신비로운 요가의 세계를 소개 할 것이다.
Virtual Exhibition on Buddhism, 16 November onwards
불교 가상 전시회, 11월 16일부터
A Virtual Exhibition on Buddhism will be launched by the Cultural Centre in collaboration with the National Museum, New Delhi and Ministry of Culture, Government of India on 16th November 2020. To trace the journey of Buddhism in India and its continuity further across Asia, the National Museum will bring together a unique selection of Buddhist art in India, ranging from stone and bronze sculptures, terracotta and clay votive objects, manuscript paintings and ritualistic implements, depicting Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Arhats, and the growing Buddhist pantheon. The artistic wealth displayed in the exhibition will be embedded within an eclectic historical timeline spanning across the development of Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana Schools of Buddhism. Seen through the masterpieces in the National Museum collection, the exhibition focusses on the sacred and didactic aspects of Buddhist heritage in India forging a new outlook on its spread, development, and cultural synthesis over centuries.
주한인도문화원은 또한 뉴델리국립박물관, 인도문화부 등과 협력해 11월 16일부터 불교 가상 전시회를 선보인다. 인도에서 기원한 불교가 아시아로 전파되며 명맥이 이어지는 여정을 석조 및 청동 조각품, 테라코타, 점토 봉헌물, 필사화, 제기 등과 불상, 보살, 나한상과 불교 사원들을 묘사한 독특한 인도 불교 미술품들을 통해 선보인다. 전시될 예술품들을 통해 불교가 소승불교, 대승불교, 밀교 등으로 발전 해 나가는 역사를 확인 할 수 있을 것이다. 전시는 불교의 발전과 전파, 문화 통합에 있어 새로운 관점을 형성하고 있는 인도의 불교 유산의 신성하고 교훈적인 측면에 초점을 맞출 예정이다.

Swami Vivekananda Culture Centre or Indian Cultural Centre as it is popularly known is the cultural wing of the Embassy of India in Seoul promoting Indian culture in the Republic of Korea. Fulfilling a long-held desire to provide a platform to showcase India’s rich cultural heritage and serve as the nodal point for cultural exchanges between India and Republic of Korea, this Centre was established on 1st July 2011. Since its inception, Centre has been providing regular classes on Yoga, Indian classical and contemporary dances, musical instruments like Tabla, Harmonium and languages such as Hindi and Sanskrit.
