We are pleased to invite you to the online international conference titled “Great Transition in India: Past and Present”, which will be held on 23-24 July 2020. This conference will provide a platform to discuss “Great Transition in India” in humanities as well as social science with ten distinguished scholars from seven different countries

India is undergoing a great transition, as the post-reform generation strikes out into the world. The thinking, attitudes, culture, political preferences, consumption patterns and ambitions of the post-reform generations differ greatly from that of the earlier generations. As a consequence, the country is also witnessing rapid changes not only on the socio-political and economic fronts but also on the humanities front. Furthermore, as the world is witnessing new challenges due to COVID-19, India and South Asia are also facing some critical issues that will impact the region in the long-term perspective. Against this background, this conference seeks to explore great transition in India through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspectives in the fields of humanities and social sciences. In doing so, this conference will lay the foundation not only for understanding India but also in initiating a new chapter for Indian and South Asian studies. With participation by leading scholars from around the world, this conference will also provide a platform to discuss “The Great Transition in India” and disseminate research outcomes to international society at large.
