On Tuesday, January 9, the EU Centre invited Professor Adrien Carbonnet of the Catholic University of Leuven(KE Leuven) in Belgium to hold an international seminar on the theme of "Why Korea and the EU established diplomatic relations in 1963" in the conference room on the 11th floor of the university headquarters on the Seoul campus.

 Through this seminar, it was found that bilateral relations began under the leadership of the Economic Planning Board, not the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and that Korea, which was a poor country by the standards of the time, sought cooperation with European countries to make a leap forward through economic growth.

 Prior to the seminar, they shared their opinions on the signing of an agreement between the Office of International Affairs of the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and the University of Leuven in Belgium and cooperation plans such as student exchanges in a forward-looking direction in the future.
