2020 Fall Semester Undergraduate Class Plan

This is the official notice stating the instructional delivery protocol for undergraduate classes for the Fall 2020 semester after review by the Academic Affairs Committee (2020/8/3).

1. For the second semester of the 2020 school year, COVID-19 must be taken into account in regards to a safe classroom environment; thus face-to-face and online classes will be operated in parallel.

2. The main prevention method of COVID-19 involves Level 1 Social Distancing (per government prevention guidelines) and the basics of instruction delivery are outlined below.

Delivery Method

Practical Foreign Language

/ Liberal Arts (Electives)

Other Undergraduate Majors

Face-to-Face

Minerva Humanities Courses,

University Foreign Languages, Practical Foreign Languages,

Physical Education, RC English (Global Campus), TRTL

Introductory Software (certain courses)

All Classes with

50 Students or Less*

Distance

All other Classes

All Classes with

51 Students or Higher*

Class size refers to the maximum (limited) number of participants in the class schedule specified during course registration, and there is no change in the class method that reflects the actual number of students following the course registration (increase/cancellation/change).

-Whether or not the class is face-to-face or non-face-to-face will be indicated on the class syllabus and class schedule.

In the case of exceeding the 50 student limit, if the professor in charge wants face-to-face/non-face-to-face class (e.g., biweekly meeting system) or full face-to-face classes, a request must be made to the Dean of the College by 8/6. The Dean will review and make a decision.

All face-to-face classes must be simulcast online for international students who are residing abroad, and lectures without international students in foreign countries may be conducted only face-to-face.

You need to follow each class attendance policy. (i.e., e-class log attendance, QR code, etc.)

Course grading (i.e., student evaluation) for the second semester of 2020 will utilize the absolute grading method.

3. Since the COVID-19 situation is constantly changing, if stricter government quarantine guidelines are enacted, the teaching method may be changed as outlined in the following section.

A. Switch 1 ON Level 2 Social Distancing

-Average of 25 or more daily local cases or 50 total cases (domestic cases + imported cases) per day for 2 weeks

1) Based on whether the student ID number ends in an odd or even number, students will be assigned to either face-to-face or an online class each week.

Face-to-face and Online Classes (real-time online broadcast of face-to-face lectures): Students take a bi-weekly course or bi-weekly remote course, and professors continue to conduct face-to-face classes and real-time online broadcast

2) Classes with 12 or fewer attendees are allowed to continue face-to-face classes (PC labs, physical education classes, science and engineering labs [30 students or less] classes will be held face-to-face).

B. Switch ON 2: Level 3 Social Distancing

-For more than 2 weeks, when the average of 50 local cases per day, or the total number of confirmed cases (domestic + imported cases) is 100 or more per day

1) All classes will be conducted online regardless of class type.
