On 11 Oct, HUFS JMCE invited Valdis Zatlers, the former president of Latvia, to host the "Meet the EU" event. In this meeting, Hyun-taek KIM (the Vice President of External Affairs and Development of HUFS), prof. Yooduk KANG, Bongchul KIM and students attended. With Former President Valdis Zatlars, they had time to talk about various domestic and international situations of Latvia, including political and economic status and relations with the European Union.

Before the "Meet the EU" event, on 10 Oct, Korea Foundation and KASEUS co-hosted the Academic Round Table under the theme of "Future of the EU: inter-connected yet divided world" at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul. They discussed the future of the EU and the role of Latvia.
