On Friday, April 23rd, HUFS JMCE (Director Kim Si-hong) and HUFS Institute of EU (Director Kim Bong-chul) co-hosted a spring academic conference with The Korean Society of Contemporary European Studies, Jeju Peace Institute, EURAXESS Korea, and Institute for Global and Area Studies at Pukyong National University (PKNU) in Busan. The theme of the conference was “EU and the Korean Peninsula: seeking mutual prosperity and peaceful coexistence.”

The conference alternated online and offline due to the worsening situation of COVID-19. Participants reviewed the diversity of issues facing the Korean Peninsula, and presented various viewpoints and held discussions on how the European Union could contribute to such issues.

The JMCE session was jointly organized with EURAXESS Korea, and participants debated on interregional cooperation under the theme "Connecting Korea and Europe : Promoting Mobility in Education and Science.”
