C02 TESOL Methods II: Reading, Writing & Grammar

An additional goal of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive grasp of theoretical issues related to reading and writing skills.

C03 Culture and Pragmatics in the Classroom
This course is designed to increase cultural awareness of the students, so that they in turn can enrich their classroom teaching skills. The course will focus on defining culture and investigating the influences of cultural assumptions, values, and conflicts on the EFL classroom.

      C04 Materials Design & Development
The goal of this course is to provide an understanding of the theoretical and practical considerations involved in adapting and developing second language materials. This is accomplished through two related activities; (1) theoretical beliefs and assumptions of the purposes and consequences of materials in second language teaching (2) practical experiences in adapting and developing materials.

      C05 Approaches to Language Learning
The goal of this course is to introduce the developments of the last 100 years of English education methodology and the reasons why such developments occurred. This will be done by looking at how developments in second language acquisition affect theories of English education and vice versa.

      C06 Testing & Evaluation
This course is intended to provide a working knowledge of the basic principles and procedures for test construction and testing with an emphasis on the foreign language context. The course examines theoretical and practical aspects of language testing, including the purposes and types of language tests in relation to theories of language use and language teaching goals.
