Sihong Kim, a Jean Monnet Chari Professor, attended the 2019 Jeju Forum on 29-31 May. Professor Kim participated in the session under the theme of "Multilateralization of the Korea Peninsula Peace Process: An Initiative for Revitalization of 'Jeju Peace Process'" as a discussant on Thursday.
This session, jointed by Prof. Ki-joon Hong, the Graduate Institute of Peace Studies, Kyung Hee University (President of the Korea Society of Contemporary European Studies), John J. Maresca, Former Ambassador of the US to the SCSE and OSCE, Prof. Landon Hancoco, Kent State University, Prof. Sihong Kim and Prof. Jae-Seung Lee, Division of International Studies of Korea University, sought the possibility of transforming the bilateral peace process between North Korea and the U.S. into a multilateral one involving all of Northeast Asia in the wake of their leaders' summits in 2018 and 2019. They also discussed needs to take the initiative by the South Korean government for cooperation by restoring the "Jeju Peace Process" that encompasses the Six-Party Talks, the EU and ASEAN.
