HUFS JMCE attended the "2017 Korea-EU Business Forum" hosted by the Delegation of EU to Korea on September 21, 2017. The event began at 9am, with the welcome speech of H.E. Ambassador Reiterer. In the next session, Trade Commssioner Mme. Cecilia Malmstrom gave a keynote speech, followed by a Q&A session. In her keynote speech, Mme. Malmstrom emphasized on the cooperation of EU and Korea to dissuade the trend towards protectionism, and how trade should not only be a means for effiencient movement of goods, but also as a leverage for promoting labour rights and human rights. Mme. Malmstrom concluded her speech, advising the Korea-EU FTA to follow the Commission's standardization policies. After the keynote speech, EU business presented on the success cases, which led to the debate in which the Director General of ECCK, Director of Korea Consumer Agency, Team Leader of KITA Trade Research Team, and the Head of KGCCI participated. Professor CHOI Seok Young of Seoul National University participated as chairperson. Finally, the "2017 Korea-EU Business Forum" was concluded with the closing address by Mr. Johan Vandromme of EU Delegation to Korea. JMCE Director Kim Si Hong and GSIAS students who attended the event were also invited to the luncheon buffet, also hosted by the Delegation of EU to Korea.
