On Jan 8, HUFS JMCE invited Ināra MŪRNIECE, Speaker of the Latvian National Assembly and members of parliament, who were on an official visit to Korea, to hold a roundtable meeting in Room 203 of the main building, HUFS. In addition to Speaker, MŪRNIECE, three members of Latvian parliament, Rihards KOLS, Gatis EGLISTIS and Janis VUCĀNS were among the visiting members, and Latvian Ambassador to Korea, Pēteris VAIVARS and Deputy Head of Latvian Embassy, Pētteris PODVINSKIS were also accompanied.

Prior to the roundtable, President of HUFS, Kim In-chul, head of the International Affairs Office, Oh Jong-jin and Director Kim Si-hong greeted Latvia's delegation, and the participants of the roundtable, Prof. Kim Bong-chul and Prof. Kang Yoo-duk, were present to have a small talk.

The roundtable was held under the theme of "Latvia, European Union and Korea," and the event was also attended by Italian department Prof. Choi Byung-jin, Dr. Park Moon-jung and Dr. Seo Jin-suk. Presided by Prof. Kim Si-hong, it was starting with a keynote speech by Speaker MŪRNIECE. Members of Latvian parliament and faculty members freely shared views on Latvia's current and future prospects for politics and economy, and the meeting was wrapped up by sharing expectations for improving exchanges between young people, including students, between the two countries.
