The HUFS JMCE (led by Director Kim SiHong) co-hosted the 4th EU Youth Forum under the theme of ‘Major issues and future prospects in Europe’ at Conference House Dalgaebi (Jung-gu, Seoul) on May 19 (Friday) with Hankuk University of Foreign Studies EU Research Institute.

The EU Youth Forum, which is composed of undergraduate and graduate students interested in Europe and is held for the purpose of discovering the next generation of academics, was held as the first face-to-face event after COVID-19. In particular, it was a more meaningful event because of the active participation of the academic successors of HUFS and Myongji University.

Starting with the opening speech of Sin EuiChan, a senior researcher at the HUFS EU Research Institute, welcoming remarks by Kim BongChul, the director of HUFS EU Research Institute and Kim SiHong, the director of JUFS JMCE, commemorative remarks by Tomasz Wierzbowski, the Representative of EURAXESS Korea, and congratulatory remarks by MooSung Lee, the director of Jean Monnet Society Support Project Group of Korea Society of Contemporary European Studies followed.

The first ‘undergraduate session’ was conducted with various and wide-ranging studies to explore implications and measures for politics, economy, society, environment, and institutions in European countries under the five themes of 'EU Energy and the Environment', 'History and Prospects of European Countries', 'Europe and Foreign Relations', 'EU Policy and Culture', and 'Recent Issues of the EU'.

In the second ‘graduate session’, graduate students at HUFS gave a presentation on the theme of ‘Trends in the EU and the International Community’. After the students' presentations, discussions were held along with them, and through this, it was c○nfirmed that the new perspectives and attempts of young people were highlighted.

Through this EU Youth Forum, students were able to acquire various social and cultural knowledge on major European issues, and it was a good opportunity to develop understanding of other cultures, discussions, and coordination skills.
