- 64 HUFS students will intern at 50 KOTRA offices in 41 countries for five months of local job training
On December 30, 2019, the HUFS Career Development Center held a kick-off ceremony at the Global Campus Centennial Complex International Seminar Room to kick off the 25th KOTRA Overseas Internship Program.
HUFS Career Development Center Team Manager Yoon Il emceed the kick-off ceremony, which was proceeded with a status report by HUFS Dean of Student Affairs and Human Resources Development Kim Soo-wan, words of encouragement by HUFS Vice President Cho Ki-sung, a pledge statement by the student representative of the 25th Overseas Interns Kang Seung-min, and a badge pinning ceremony for the students by the HUFS Vice President. The 25th KOTRA Overseas Interns consist of 64 students who will intern at 50 KOTRA overseas offices in 41 countries. The interns will perform a range of tasks which include market research, reporting, interpretation and translation services, and trade and investment attraction support for South Korean businesses.
HUFS launched the Overseas Internship Program in 2008 with KOTRA offices in 14 countries. Thanks to the high level of satisfaction and strong support from overseas KOTRA offices, the number of participating students has increased every semester. Including the 25th Interns for the first semester of 2020, a total of 1,930 students have participated in the program to achieve their dreams of becoming global trade expertsAfter the kick-off ceremony, advisor Kim Shi-yoon from the HUFS Career Development Center provided a career guidance session for post internship, and alumnus Lee Se-bom (Dept. of Arabic, entering class of ’07) held a special lecture. Lee Se-bom passed the entrance exam for the Korea National Diplomatic Academy in 2019 after having been a KOTRA Overseas Intern in Amman, Jordan.
The KOTRA Overseas Internship Program at HUFS is offered to students with outstanding foreign language skills, high academic achievements, and well-rounded characteristics. Students who have finished their second semester of their sophomore year (or more) can apply to be sent to KOTRA offices all around the world and the interns may receive up to 15 credits and scholarships.
