On May 15, at the Seoul Campus smart library, HUFS held a ceremony to mark the 66th Anniversary of HUFS and the completion of the smart library. The ceremony has been previously postponed once due to the COVID-19 situation and was carried out on a small scale for safety concerns.
Kwak Sun-joo (Dean of Administrative Support, Seoul) presided over the smart library completion ceremony, which began with a progress report. Chairman Kim Chong-Chul and HUFS President Kim In-chul offered opening remarks, which were followed by celebratory remarks from HUFS Alumni Association President Min Dong-Seok, FILA/Acushnet Chairman Yoon Yoon-soo, Member of the National Assembly of Korea Ahn Gyu-baek, Chair Professor Park Jin, Head of Dongdaemun-gu Ryu Duk-rul, and Chair of Dongdaemun-gu Council Kim Chang-gyu.
The HUFS AWARDS ceremony followed, and CEO of Yesco Holdings Koo Ja-cheol and Head of Translation Service for the US State Department Lee Yun-hyang received the awards in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the advancement and promotion of HUFS.
CEO of Yesco Holdings Koo Ja-cheol heads the Yesco Group, which laid the foundations for gas energy for the people of Korea. In addition, he has been active in social contribution for decades in way of donating for Seniors Welfare Centers and supporting heating costs for the underprivileged. Moreover, he has been supporting HUFS students with scholarship every semester since 2014. Head of Translation Service for the US State Department Lee Yun-hyang is also known as “the US President’s Interpreter,” and she has interpreted for three US Presidents—George Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump—since 2009, raising the esteem of Korea and recognition of HUFS.
The ceremony concluded with HUFS Dean of Academic Affairs Na Min-gu’s remarks on the history of HUFS and a rewards ceremony for HUFS employees with long service, faculty with outstanding teaching, and employees with excellence.
