Michael Hurt is a photographer and professor living in Seoul, Korea. He graduated from Brown University and received his doctoral degree from UC Berkeley's Department of Comparative Ethnic Studies and also started the first street fashion blog in South Korea in 2006, having covered Seoul Fashion Week and the Korean streets since 2007. He has taught Visual Sociology and uses his street fashion work as ethnographic data in his research. Before coming to HUFS, was also the chair of the fashion division of the World Association for Hallyu Studies, housed at the Research Institute for Korean Studies at Korea University. Presently, he teaches Marketing at HUFS and focuses on training students to be conversant in many of the theoretical approaches that business and marketing often utilise, which includes using the ethnography, anthropology, sociology, and psychology in order to understand phenomena in the market.
