Minerva Complex, Seoul Campus
In addition to the 2,000-seat gym-cum-auditorium, the Minerva Complex, Seoul Campus is expected to be home to student clubs and convenience facilities. This three-story building with a floor area of 12,390m² (or about 3,750 pyeong) and three underground levels could significantly help resolve the chronic shortage of space for education, research, and welfare on the Seoul Campus.
Memorial Hall
As the Memorial Hall was remodeled in a way to preserve the original appearance of the old main building, it offers a delightful mix of the past and the present. The large windows keep the building well-lighted. Here and there inside are places with records, copper plates, status boards, and the like that highlight the history and identity of HUFS. The building is a place where the self-respect and pride of the HUFS family are especially apparent.
International Conference Hall
The high-tech International Conference Hall can accommodate about 100 people for seminars or performances. International symposiums will be held at the International Conference Hall two or three times a month, raising stature of the school.
Obama Hall
The Multi-purpose Hall can accommodate up to about 2,000 people. As the construction of an indoor multi-purpose hall was one of the greatest wishes of the HUFS family, the Multi-purpose Hall will host major events like entrance and commencement ceremonies, job fairs, or briefing sessions on admission requirements. The hall is suitable for every type of performance as it is equipped with all necessary sound and lighting facilities.
Fitness Center
The 397m² Fitness Center is furnished with latest sport equipment and facilities. It is the ideal place for students who want to stay physically fit.
Resting Space
The courtyard built for maximum natural lighting and ventilation between buildings has been designed to also serve as a rest area for students.
Centennial Complex The Centennial Complex is a multi-purpose building located on the HUFS Global Campus. The Complex houses education spaces, an international seminar room, a gymnasium-cum-conference hall, a laptop lounge, eading rooms, study rooms, offices and rest places for faculty members, and administration offices, etc. Outside the complex, there is an artificial turf field and an arch-shaped wooden bridge.
The name “Centennial Complex” was chosen through a contest which was open to all HUFS members and held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary. It implies the centennial anniversary which HUFS will celebrate in 40 years.
The Complex has a total floor area of 22,401.96㎡(or 4,991.60 pyeong). It features state-of-the-art facilities for its international conference hall, gymnasium-cum-conference hall, offices for faculty members, and 50 small and large lecture rooms. In addition, there is an artificial turf field located in front of the Centennial Complex which is open for sports and leisure activities for students who want to stay physically fit.
Library
Seoul Campus Library has 4 reading rooms, a reference room with about 800,000 books for general purposes, another reference room for academic purposes, a periodicals room, and an electronic information room with multi-media resources.
2. Law School Library
The library on the second floor of the Law School building has some 80,000 books for general and academic reference, and periodicals, as well as an Internet room. On the third floor is a reading room.
3. Global Campus Library
This library has a reference room with about 560,000 books, reading rooms, a global folklore information room, and a seminar room.
4. How to use the libraries
Entrance to the library Students should scan his/her ID card into the bar code reader to pass the gate. The recent spread of mobile IDs has enabled students to access the library and to borrow books without printed ID cards. A mobile ID can be downloaded from the library website (http://weblib.hufs.ac.kr)
5. Reserving a seat in a reading room
Seats are designated on a reservation basis to ensure efficient usage and to help students better concentrate. Students can use the reserved seat for 4 hours, which may be renewed 1 hour before it expires (renewal is allowed up to 4 times a day)

Health Service CenterFamily doctor responsible for healthy body and mind
The Health Service Center takes care of the health needs of HUFS by providing medical services such as; first aid, small injury treatment, general healthcare, and the prevention of various diseases. Students can keep their body and mind healthy at the Health Service Center which plays the role of the HUFS family doctor.

The Audio-Visual Education Center
The Audio-Visual Education Center was established in September 1962 in accordance with the founding ideas of the University which are to contribute to international cultural exchange and development by teaching and researching theories and practices according to the different countries' politics, economics, society, culture and science and languages. The purpose of the Center is to support the installation and production of audio-visual data for effective teaching.
(2) Facilities
The present condition of the audio-visual education centers on the Seoul and Yongin campuses are as listed below.
① Language Laboratory
The laboratories have a seating capacity of 208 (Seoul: 3 rooms with 144 seats, Yongin: 1 room with 64 seats), and there are sound and video tapes of textbooks in selected languages. Teaching each student to increase his/her foreign language reading and listening comprehension abilities takes place by letting students listen to the tapes. Also, professors use a one-to-one lecture method to correct each student's pronunciation and teach the class as a whole or in divided groups.
All language laboratories have been equipped with TVs and VTRs as well as cassette players. Hence, using the audio-visual language practice textbooks, which are becoming more popular, can provide students with an education that has the actual feeling of being in a foreign country learning the language, thus contributing to increase the effect of education.
② Audio-Visual Classrooms
Having a seating capacity of 1,855 in 41 classrooms (Seoul: 1,175 seats in 24 rooms, Yongin: 680 seats in 17 rooms), each audio-visual classroom is equipped with a large TV, videoplayer and speakers. OHPs, slide projectors and screens are also available. These audio and video facilities bring foreign politics, economics, society and culture into the classroom. Both campuses are also equipped with world satellite services which capture broadcasts from around the world 24 hours a day. By accessing these broadcasts, students can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a variety of foreign locations while gaining direct and practical access to foreign language usage and accurate information regarding the cultures they are studying.
③ Multimedia Classrooms
Having a seating capacity of 6,275 in 97 classrooms (Seoul: 3,180 seats in 49 rooms, Yongin: 3,085 seats in 48 rooms), multimedia classrooms are fitted with LCD projectors and 150-inch wide screens, DVDs, PCs and other up-to-date equipment, which allow access to internet resources, thus enhancing classroom instruction in any subject.
④ Simultaneous Interpretation Training Rooms
There are five simultaneous interpretation training rooms fitted with Philips machines which have a capacity for 155 students. There are 3 rooms with a capacity for 15 students, 1 room with a capacity for 40 students, and 1 room with a capacity for 70 students. The room for 15 students may handle 4 languages, and rooms for 40 and 70 students may handle 8 languages for students to practice simultaneous interpretation.
⑤ International Conference Auditorium
It has 230 listening seats and can handle up to 8 languages. It has been equipped with audio-visual facilities, and special indicator lamps for various kinds of international conferences, and it is possible to broadcast a whole event live throughout the campus.
⑥ Multivideo Rooms
Four multivideo rooms which are used for showing movies, small scale seminars, and audio-visual classrooms have a capacity of 156 seats (Yongin: 506 seats). Especially the video room fitted with large screens, beam projector, DVD player, cassette deck, and Dolby amp gives the impression of the audio and visual effect of a cinema.
⑦ Video Library and Sound Libraries
Seating capacity of 417 in 10 rooms (Seoul: 115 seats in 2 rooms, Yongin: 302 seats in 8 rooms). The sound libraries are equipped with a cassette player at each seat, enabling students to pursue self-paced listening activities. The video library offers personal work stations equipped with 14-inch personal TVs, VTRs, and DVD players. Students may access the worldwide satellite programs available in-house as well as recorded media in a variety of formats. The facilities are open to all registered students and faculty without restriction. Students may also borrow audio and video materials overnight.
⑧ Audio-Visual Seminar Room
The Audio-Visual Seminar Room has a seating capacity of 50 making it possible to conduct a lecture or seminar using presentation devices such as a VTR, and other instruments to enhance learning. To function as a normal language laboratory is also possible. Also, when inviting a guest professor from inside or outside of the country, simultaneous interpretation is possible which enhances the effect of the lecture, and all the contents from the lecture can be recorded on tape to be reused later.
⑨ Auditoriums
A large auditorium on each campus (Seoul: 475 seats, Yongin: 587 seats), with a total seating capacity of 1,062 seats, is equipped with special lighting and audio facilities and can be used for university events, plays, movies, dances, musical performances and other artistic or academic events.
⑩ Studio
Theaters Having a seating capacity of 301 in 2 locations (Seoul: 150 seats, Yongin: 151 seats), have been equipped to hold small-scale events of the school or students.
⑪ Media Production
▶ Studio
The soundproof studio is equipped with diverse equipment used in the soundproof production of textbooks and examinationquestions. Equipment includes a high-performance TV camera, TV monitor, lighting lamps, and other small instruments.
▶ Control Room
It is equipped with diverse equipment used in the production of video textbooks. Equipment includes a digital nonlinear editing system, CD-TITLE producing system, digital recording-editing system, digital audio CD producing system, and other instruments. They make the production of digital teaching materials possible, and analog facilities, such as video recorder, editing-producing recorder, all kinds of analog recorders, video message generator, audio, high speed photocopier, and other instruments are also available.
▶ Workshop
The main purpose of the workshop is to research and produce teaching materials to be used in the audio-visual facilities with abundant educational contents for effective learning. The teaching materials include recorded tapes, DVD, CD-ROM, slide materials, etc. Also the workshop is responsible for editing, correcting or photocopying or any other operation to make the teaching materials appropriate for an actual class.
⑫ Satellite TV Broadcasting
The American CNN program and 110 other satellite TV programs in 20 different languages can be watched on TVs throughout the day in professors' offices and classrooms by receiving the programs and sending them through networks within the university. Also, a system which allows broadcasting within the university has been installed, enabling academic and other different kinds of events to be run live and used in various ways.
⑬ Educational Data Room
It holds a total of over 53,074 original copies of audio-visual educational data, which are used for lectures or as borrowable materials in the video and sound library when needed. Also, inside- and outside-events of the school are recorded and deposited in the educational data room.
Computer Center
The Computer Center has the fast Gigabit backbone local area network as well as fast internet connection. Based on this high speed network infrastructure, the computer center provides valuable services for the HUFS community. Recently, the computer center upgraded an integrated information system with a state-of-the-art technology. This new system provides internet-based, user-oriented and user friendly one-stop services to all members of the HUFS community. The Computer Center plays a vital role in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of HUFS, and will continue to upgrade the quality and scope of information systems services to enhance the competitive advantage of the University.
New facilities(1) International PC Cafe
At 27 computers, students can use the Internet which supports many languages from around the globe, including Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Arabic and German. Here, students can create documents in a foreign language as well as enjoy web surfing.
(2) Group Study Room
Two spaces are provided for group studies, with four tables in each space, and each table accommodating four people.
(3) Multimedia Meeting Room
This room is equipped with a U-shaped table that can accommodate 37 people, computers connected to the Internet as well as a DVD and VCR. A beam projector and screen can be used for presentations.
