Thank you very much. I am indeed humbled and sincerely honoured to receive such a high and prestigious award. I am very grateful to be recognized by HUFS and in particular Center of Teaching and Learning. First and foremost, this award belongs and is attributed to my wonderful students, my faculty colleagues from our department and the College, without whose support it would have been impossible to get this award. I would always feel the student's complete devotion and sincere affection; my colleagues would support me with their ideas, there are all necessary conditions for successful teaching at the department. To sum it up, it is a matter of concerted effort and not working in isolation.
When preparing for the next term, I consider all the efficient and inefficient sides of my previous experience, consult with the colleagues, students in order to select the most interesting and appropriate material for the students' level. In addition, I do take into account the comments posted by students at the end of the term when evaluating the course, survey the students as well. For example, after the completion of the Uzbek Texts Reading course, I distribute a questionnaire to determine the most useful and interesting texts according to the students. Likewise, at the first lesson of each course of a new term, I conduct a survey on "What are my expectations about the course?". Based on survey results, I modify or make adjustments to the syllabus.
According to my personal teaching credo: First of all, an educational process shall be based on mutual respect. Students of any age and level of knowledge shall be treated with respect and not only as a student, but also, above all, as a person with immense repository of skills and potential. Secondly, I try create a positive and relaxed atmosphere in the classroom, thus encouraging them to speak and communicate freely. I am a lecturer in the Uzbek language, which has been taught as a second foreign language for only a few years. And the students have the opportunity to communicate in and practice Uzbek only in the lecture hall. That's why I always try to involve them in conversation practice as often as I can. Practicum is a core pedagogical aspect. I always welcome questions and try to answer them in time while they are interested in the topic. I try to explain new material in a simple way and laconically. I explain it until I am convinced that all of them understood the theme. Sometimes, I ask one of them to repeat what he/she understood. Moreover, you shall seek to make a student feel like a winner before he/she leaves the classroom; at every lesson he/she must gain at least a small victory and acquire self-confidence!
At the end of the term, I certainly acquaint myself with the assessment of each course. I determine the points to work on. Students' comments on the course are particularly important for me. No comment on the improvement of the course is disregarded. I also learn a lot from students' comments.
If you are training to teach, you shall, first of all, become fond of your job. This is almost definite. You shall think about advancing you methodology all the time. You shall always put yourself in your students' place and ask yourself: "How would I want to learn a foreign language?"
First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude to the Center of Teaching and Learning for the tireless work being done for the benefit of advancing teaching and training. I have one idea to say. Comments on the course are more often than not posted by students in Korean. It consumes a bit of time to comprehend their comments. I would like to learn exactly their opinions, especially on improving the course. It would be useful to make them translated into English on-line. Thank you very much again!
