- It received “A”, the highest ranking in the comprehensive performance evaluation for the 2nd year and first three years of the University Innovation Support Project
- It is committed to cultivating “creative, interdisciplinary, global talents” for the 4th Industrial Revolution by fostering “multilingual data literacy”
On September 15, 2021, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS, President Kim In-Chul) was ranked highest with an “A” grade in the comprehensive performance evaluation for the 2nd year and first three years of the University Innovation Support Project led by the Ministry of Education. The Ministry launched the project in 2019 to provide financial support for universities and colleges to build a future-oriented creative talent nurturing system through voluntary innovation measures tailored to their own educational situation. Covering a total of 143 institutions, including 55 in the Seoul metropolitan area, that passed the basic competency analysis in 2018, the project marks its third anniversary this year. Having joined the project, HUFS has set its aim of “completing a platform for cultivating interdisciplinary, global talents through innovation in university education” under the guidance of its ideal talent concept “creative, interdisciplinary, future global leaders” and undertaking innovation measures based on the shared value of sustainable innovation among its faculty, staff, and students.
In particular, HUFS has strengthened its ‘HUFS-style data-based convergence education system’; expanded its creative, interdisciplinary education courses to meet the public's needs; and continuously advanced its global Regional Studies education model to develop localized, interdisciplinary regional experts. This three-year effort was well received in the performance evaluation and was assessed to have taken HUFS one step closer to its fundamental goal of “becoming a world-leading institution for global convergence education”.
What is notable among these efforts is that HUFS has strategically advanced and expanded its data-based convergence education courses by establishing the College of Convergence Studies in order to further reinforce multilingual data literacy, which has been HUFS’s unique strength. With the advanced education model specialized in creative, interdisciplinary talent development, HUFS is expected to contribute greatly to the development of the nation’s future growth engines.
