초록 | In Colombia, the late 1980s and early 1990s are referred to as the “era of terrorism.” The Sound of Things Falling is a novel that explores and reproduces the events of this bloody era that still scars to these days. In this novel, based on various historical events in Colombia, the damage caused by the drug trade and violence, the side effects caused by the excessive desire of human beings for material gain, the problem of forgetting the past, matters of memory and testifying issues, the prevalence of fear in throughout society, and the trauma, pain and fear lived by survivors, among other things, form the weft and warp that create colorful literary and aesthetic patterns. The trauma caused by violence is not only a main theme of this novel, but also the cause that addresses the memory issues related to these traumatic experiences of the main character which forms its narrative framework. This article inquires into the memory and trauma of narcoterrorism that the novel embodies. |
