중동연구소는 지난 10월 15일과 16일 양일간 한국중동학회-AFMA 국제 학술대회(KAMES AFMA-International conference)를 공동 개최하였다. “Post Covid-19 Era, Enhancing the Connectivity between Asia and the Middle East” 란 주제하에 개최된 본 행사는 코로나 19 방역지침을 준수하여 줌 웨비나(Zoom Webinar)로 진행되었다. 해당 국제학술대회는 제 13회  AFMA(Asian Federation of Middle East Studies Associations) 학술대회 세션을 포함한 총 4세션으로 이루어졌다.

AFMA 세션에서 서정민 전임연구원은 Kota SUECHIKA 교수의 "Hezbollah＇s Framing of the Two-front Resistance : A Quantitative Analysis of Hasan Nasrallah＇s Speeches" 발표에 대해 토론했다. 국제학술대회에서 제 2세션에서 김정아 전임연구원은 Akiko SUMI 교수의 "A comparative Study of Arabic Manuscripts of the One Hundred and One Nights" 발표에 대해 토론했다.

또한 이번 국제학술대회에서는 "The Making of a Neo-Diaspora -Examining Structural Transitions and Forced Exodus in MENA"를 주제로 한 중동연구소 특별세션이 마련되어 아랍의 봄과 이주와 관련한 연구원 4인의 발표로 구성되었다.

이경수 전임연구원은 “Migration and Immigration in Lebanon due to the Crisis in Lebanon : After COVID-19”에 대하여, 백승훈 전임연구원은 “Deep State, Military Rentierism and Force to Free in Arab Republic of Egypt” 에 대하여 발표했다. 김은지 책임연구원은 “Right to Education in Egypt : Transition Stage under COVID-19 Pandemic” 에 대해, 공동연구원 Moamen GOUDA 교수와 상임연구원 Shimaa HANAFY 교수는 “Islamic Constitutions, Supreme Values, and Democracy” 를 주제로 발표했다.
