Dear Researchers,

The Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) Center for International Area Studies (CIAS) is calling for paper submissions to the journal Culture and the World Review. Initial submissions should be provided by September 30, 2020.

1. Culture and the World Review aims for interdisciplinary research in the humanities and social sciences on topics such as culture, language. literature, history, society, education, and the environment, around the world. In addition, Culture and the World Review aims to contribute research that enhances Korea's national competitiveness by comparing and contrasting Korea to other countries and cultures around the world, as well as possibly covering policy/institutional implications for Korea. In particular, the journal highly encourages novel academic research as well as manuscripts in the fields of applied and complex research with a sound theoretical and methodological foundation.

2. The Culture and the World Review should in principle be written in Korean or English, but the journal also welcomes to manuscripts in languages from all over the world, which meets the Mission of the CIAS. Even so, all manuscripts should include an English abstract.

3. The first volume of the Culture and the World Review will be published on the 30^th of October 2020 (Fall Issue). Further, the Culture and the World Review, will be published biyearly in the Spring (30^th April) and Fall (30^th October). With these plans, the journal will shortly apply to be a registered journal of National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), which many authors know through the Korean Citation Index (KCI), which will also lead to registering in other indexes in the future.

The first manuscript deadline is 30^th September 2020 (Fall Issue).

4. The Culture and the World Review does not charge a submission fee to authors. Rather, authors who successfully publish manuscripts will receive 5,000,000 Won (about $300 USD) from the CIAS. 

5. In accordance with the 『Guidelines for Securing Research Ethics』 from the July 2018 of the Ministry of Education, the Culture and the World Review has implemented the “Regulations on Research Ethics”. Authors should comply with the attached regulations and specify their affiliation and status as detailed below as suggested.
