20^th Workshop on East Asian Linguistics

CALL-FOR-PAPERS

(University of California, Los Angeles, April 4-5, 2014)

The Asian Languages and Cultures Department at the University of California, Los Angeles announces its 20^th Workshop on East Asian Linguistics. WEAL-20 will take place on April 4-5, 2014 in Royce Hall at UCLA.

WEAL-20 is a workshop for graduate students to present and discuss linguistic issues pertaining to the languages of East Asia (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean). WEAL-20 will ONLY accept submissions from graduate students.

We invite graduate students working within the following topics: Functional linguistics, interactional linguistics, discourse and grammar, conversation analysis, discourse analysis, corpus linguistics, language acquisition.

Submission Guidelines:

•   Abstracts must be sent as a WORD file.

•   Abstracts must be written in English.

•   Abstracts must be no longer than one page, including examples and/or references.

•   Abstracts must be anonymous. DO NOT write your name on the abstract.

•   Abstracts must be submitted via email.

•   In a SEPARATE Word file, provide the following author information: 1) Name(s); 2) Affiliation; 3) Mailing address; 4) Email address; 5) Title of paper.

Deadline for abstract submission: January 31st

Notification of acceptance will be sent via email by: Early-February
