[Internship] Korean Embassy in Kenya

With support of HUFS, I have done an internship at the Korean Embassy in Kenya for 5 months. The main task of mine was to assist in respect of public diplomacy of Korea to Kenya; assisting all events such as the Korea National Day, Energy forum and Art exhibition; attending several international forums such as EAC, AfDB, World Bank and IMF meeting and summarizing forums; supporting diplomats' task such as translating up-to-date regional news or collecting related information or making PPT; listing up the promotional materials such as books, pamphlets, audiovisual materials and manage to distribute them to institutes (universities, Korean language institute etc).

 Through diverse experiences at the Embassy, I could understand the current stage of Korea in Africa and the efforts of all diplomats and embassy's staffs to enhance Korea's good image. This experience is very valuable for me to understand diplomacy and I realized the importance of diplomacy in Africa.

 The Korean Embassy established Korean Studies at the University of Nairobi last September. By establishing Korean Studies, Korean Embassy has widened a field that African can understand about Korea through diverse ways. I hope Korean government approaches to Africa more closely and carefully to make an intimate relationships.

The Korean Embassy is planning jubilee celebration for the bilateral relationship between Korea and Kenya this year. I hope we can deal with a centennial celebration next 50 years.
