I, Sinyaev Pavel, was an intern at United Nations Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development, and I completely believe in the sense of the statement written above.

I’ve been enrolled in 3 month internship, which has been extended up to 4 months, in the department responsible for the promotion of information and communication technologies for socio-economic development.

According to publicly available information the “Centre’s mission is to strengthen the efforts of the member and associate member countries of ESCAP to use information and communication technology (ICT) in their socio-economic development through human and institutional capacity building. To meet this objective, APCICT’s work is focused on three inter-related pillars, namely Training, Research and Knowledge Management, and Advisory Services. Together they form an integrated approach to ICT human capacity building.”

During the period of internship I was responsible for different tasks, which were based on the needs of the department. The tasks were as follows: data collection, report preparation, research activities, translations (operating languages were Russian, English and Korean), administrative support, various activities related to the preparation of different standards and questionnaires, participation in meetings and workshops.

Also, as the one of the main pillars of UN APCICT is training, it was desirable, that intern should finish Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders, which is online platform for studying and deepening knowledge in the field of ICT4D. I’ve passed all the exams required and successfully finished this Academy.

In conclusion, I would like to point everyone’s attention to the fact that United Nations is an international organization, efforts of which are aimed, in my personal opinion, at bringing peace and prosperity to all the humans around the world.

I strongly encourage everyone to take a part in the building of new peaceful and equal to everyone, in terms of human rights, world.
