 What is GKS Program?
GKS(Global Korea Scholarship) is a scholarship program to give an opportunity to foreign exchange students to understand and learn Korean culture and Korean language. It is sponsored by the Korean government and operated by HUFS office of international student services for HUFS exchange students.

 

 

 2014 Fall Semester Global Korea Scholarship Details

 1. Living Expense (Including housing fees)

-     September: Max. KRW 800,000

-     October: Max. KRW 800,000

-     November: Max. KRW 800,000

-     December: Max. KRW 490,320

 ** If the student stays in Korea less than 15 days, the Living expense won’t be given.

 ** The first and last month living expense will be calculated based on daily system.

 

2. Settlement aid

-     KRW 200,000(Just for one time on March)

 

3. Roundtrip Airfare

-     Airfare reimbursement will be made in accordance with the government guidelines.

  The maximum rates for round airfare reimbursements are as below.


Hungary: 1,212,000

Poland: 1,212,000

Slovenia: 1,212,000

USA: 1,358,000

Kazakhstan: 1,088,000

Indonesia: 967,000


 ** Please note that 2014 Fall Semester GKS Exchange scholars should bring the original receipt or invoice for airfare ticket (ROUND-TRIP) to submit to our office upon your arrival. If the invoice doesn't state any evidence such as "Paid", a proof of payment must be attached such as credit card chit.

 ** The departure and destination are must between Korea and the country where your home University locates. Stop-over cannot be supported. Your flight must be direct (non-stop) flight.

 

 ** If you don’t go back to the country where your home university locates and don’t go back within 30 days after the spring semester ends, the airfare ticket reimbursement won’t be made.

 

4. Insurance

-      KRW 20,000/month
(HUFS is going to register Korean insurance on behalf of GKS exchange scholarship students)

 

5. Remark

 As this scholarship includes housing fees, you are responsible to pay for our campus housing individually. Even your home university and HUFS have MOU that says dormitory is covered, it won’t be. Please keep that in mind.
