OCU TESOL Workshop(약 45분) - “How to Teach Reading to Non-Native Speakers”
대상: TESOL 재학생 및 수료자, TESOL Faculty
내용:” How to Teach Reading to Non-Native Speakers”라는 주제로 Dr. Griffin이 Workshop을 진행하며, 참가자 전원에게 Workshop 자료 및 OCU TESOL Workshop Certificate of Attendance 제공합니다. (미국 현지에는 본 Workshop 참가 비용이 $75이지만 한국외국어대학 TESOL 전문교육원에서 진행되는 이번 Workshop은 참가비가 무료입니다.)

*Introduction to the Workshop:
English language learners who are unfamiliar with the sounds and letters of English will often have challenges to read the language. In some cases, these learners may be part of the 20% of the international population who have significant learning challenges when reading whether that be in the first language or not. Teaching a second language requires instructors who are aware of techniques to help learners overcome such difficulties and become better readers.
This brief workshop will give an overview of how to teach and tutor reading skills to young English language learners by recognizing sounds, letters and sight words through oral repetition and the use of visual materials. This method, often used with native-speaking learners, has been adapted for non-native speakers who may not easily recognize English sounds and their corresponding letters which are important for reading. Participants will be introduced to effective teaching techniques, provided materials to take home, and, upon completion of the workshop, given an OCU certificate of attendance.

OCU TESOL 석사과정 입학 설명회(약 15분) 및 인터뷰 - OCU는 110년 전통을 가진 미국 중부 명문 사립대학으로 Oklahoma 주에서 가장 오래된 TESOL 석사과정을 갖고 있습니다. TESOL 석사과정 안내, 입학조건, 학비, 생활비, 장학금, 자녀 동반 시 교육 등 유학생활 전반에 걸친 안내가 있을 예정입니다. (설명회 참가자 전원에게 OCU 지원 시 입학전형료(Application Fee $70)를 면제해주는 바우처를 드립니다.)
한국외국어대학 TESOL수료자는 12학점을 인정받을 수 있습니다. 따라서 OCU TESOL 석사과정 총 학점 36학점 중 24학점만 이수하고 1년(총 학비 및 생활비 약 3천 만원) 안에 OCU MA TESOL 학위를 취득할 수 있습니다. 학부 영문성적증명서(TESOL 수료자는 TESOL 성적도 함께 지참)와 TOEFL 또는 IELTS 성적증명서(해당자에 한함)를 갖고 참석하시면 입학 설명회가 끝난 후 인터뷰를 통해 입학여부 및 장학금 지급 등을 확인해 드립니다. (현재 TESOL 재학 중인 분들도 2014년 가을학기 지원 가능)

[OCU TESOL 장학금 안내]
1. 24학점 Flat Rate Scholarship - 한국외국어대학 TESOL 수료자가 OCU TESOL에 입학할 경우 24학점 학비를 첫 학기에 일시로 납부하면 석사과정을 수료하는 총 학비가 $15,000로 확정되므로 약 $9,000의 장학혜택이 있습니다. (GPA 성적이 3.0/4.0 이상이고 TOEFL IBT 80점 또는 IELTS 6.0 이상 자)
2. 영어성적 우수 장학금 - 성적이 3.0/4.0 이상으로 IBT TOEFL 83 또는 IELTS 6.5 이상 입학자에게는 연간 $3,000에서 $5,000까지 차등 지급됩니다.
*위 장학혜택은 중복하여 제공되지는 않으나 조교 및 근로 장학혜택 등은 중복 지급됩니다.
