3+1 exchange program at University of Tsukuba
Seung Jun Han
I had studied at University of Tsukuba in Japan, in 2011. As you know, Japan had the earthquake and Nuclear power plants problem, last year. So I had to decide go or not, although I was decided as 3+1 exchange program student. In that situation, going to Japan to study meanstrouble in itself. But on the other hand, it was a kind of chance to me, because I have never been abroad before, even as travel. So, I decided to study in Japan, though needed some courage, and I studied University of Tsukuba inApril~November, 2011.
When Ifirstarrived atNarita Airport,Icould not believethe fact thatJapansufferedan earthquake. Everyonewascalm andfriendly and it seemed that the students of Tsukuba were vigorously. Just, Cracked orwarpedroad and Messed up books in Library told me what happened that day’s.And I could see they were repaired slowly but certainly.
Because they have Language program for foreign student, I could study Japanese in class as well as Japan society. And class about Japan societywas good to me to understand Japan culture.Sometimes, eventhoughthe earthquakecame,I could enjoy living and studying in there. I met Japanese, Chinese, even though Estonia student in class. I think it was another good point of exchange program.
But above all,I could feel what Japanese thinks and feels that situation, while livedthere. And maybe, this is the reason why school made 3+1 exchange program for student of area studies.
Honestly, I can’t recommend studying in Japan now, because Nuclear power plants problem. However, though there exists some problem, if you decide to go there, all you need is just studying hard. Go or not is up to your choice and3 month is quite a short time. I think if you are studying area studies, it is too bad to miss like that chance.
