Dear Collegue,
As one of your
cooperating international partner institutions, we are pleased to bring to your
attention the 6th annual International Summer Session (ISS) in Korean
Studies taught entirely in English offered by Hankuk University of Foreign
Studies in Seoul. This year’s five-week session of the
International Summer Session in Korean Studies will be held from July 7 - August
8, 2008.
The ISS offers a Korean
Studies program suitable for either undergraduate or graduate students from any
country who wish to broaden their understanding of contemporary Korean society.
Korean language classes at three proficiency levels from beginner to advanced
are also offered during the summer program.
Please note that tuition waivers of US$500
will be awarded to any applicants from each of our
international partner institutions. Regular tuition covers enrollment in
two 3-hour courses for 6 credit hours, as well as all co-curricular field trips.
(Additional optional field trips will be organized for a nominal at-cost fee.) A
student who enrolls for 6 credit hours of Korean Studies courses in the morning
may also choose to enroll in Korean language classes in the afternoon.
Scholarship recipients for the morning classes will also be granted a
scholarship for the afternoon language classes, calculated on the same basis.
The individual
participant is responsible for housing, the cost of meals, local transportation,
books and study materials, and personal expenses during the program. Experience
over the past several years tells us that students should plan on bringing a
minimum of US$750-$800 for these expenses for a five-week period in
Korea. All participants are expected
to pay the initial $50 application fee.
If you are
considering sending exchange students to ISS program, please contact our
International Affair Office to arrange this by Tel(82-2-2173-2063,2064) or email
(steve@hufs.ac.kr)
If you
have any questions, ideas or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact
us.
