San Diego is famous for its sunshine, near-perfect climate and boundless recreational activities. But it’s far more than just a pretty backdrop for vacations, honeymoons and family reunions. San Diego is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city regularly included on all the “top lists” as one of the most exciting destinations in the world. It’s the United States’ eighth-largest city-big enough to attract attention without losing its enviable character.
San Diego State University is the largest university in San Diego and the third largest in California. SDSU’s big campus provides ample classrooms and laboratories, as well as on-campus housing. A state-of-the-art library, theatres, health center, modern recreation center, 12,000-seat arena, and top quality baseball stadium all enhance student life. Bordering the Pacific Rim and Mexico, SDSU offers a wide variety of social and cultural activities.
The International Student Center provides services and programs to meet the needs of international students. Also, the American Language Institute (ALI) provides English language instruction for international students and professionals. SDSU provides a variety of student activities outside the classroom. Especially, you can enjoy water sports such as sailing, wakeboarding, surfing, etc.
Students from all walks of life and more than 90 nations contribute to SDSU’s dynamic mix of ethnic, racial, and social backgrounds. I could experience a variety of cultures from meeting foreign exchange students. I stayed in a campus dormitory. I shared the room with three foreign exchange students: Italians, Chinese and German. Daily life with them was full of excitement and curiosity. Things I experienced with them beyond description.
With regular academic classes at SDSU, I also did an internship in the San Diego City Council members’ office. I participated in regular council meetings and staff meetings as an administrative intern. I could understand the nature of legislation and legislators’ work. Thanks to the internship, I could improve my work skills, including interpersonal and communicational skills. The study in San Diego was full of unforgettable memories.
