관사는 형태상의 단순함에도 불구하고 문장이나 담화의 의미에 중요한 영향을 주는 요소이다. 따라서 관사의 학습은 원활한 의사소통 능력 향상을 위해 필수 불가결하다. 하지만 스페인어 관사는 외국인 학습자의 입장에서 볼 때 가장 학습하기 어려운 문법 항목들 중 하나이다. 특히, 한국어를 모국어로 하는 스페인어 학습자들에게 있어서 관사의 용법을 익히는 것은 매우 어렵다. 그 이유는 한국어에는 관사가 존재하지 않으며, 또한 명사의 가산성 및 단·복수의 개념조차 명확하지 않기 때문이다. 그래서 이러한 개념이 잘 반영되어 있는 관사의 기능에 한국인 학습자들이 주목하기 쉽지 않아 스페인어 관사의 학습이 어려운 것이다. 제한된 학교 수업을 통해서만 스페인어를 학습하는 한국인 학습자들에게 관사 용법을 어떻게 교육해야 할까? 언어학 이론 분야에서 스페인어 관사에 대한 연구는 많이 이루어져 있으나, 교육학적인 관점에서의 연구는 많지 않다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 한국인 학습자들의 수준에 맞춰 자료들을 제시하고, 그들이 이해할 수 있도록 교수·학습할 수 있는 방법을 제안해 보았다. 먼저, 관사 사용 규칙이 나오게 된 근본적인 매커니즘을 학습자들에게 이해시켜야 하고, 다음으로, 세부적인 관점에서 명사 유형별 관사의 용법을 학습자들에게 교육해 주어야 한다. 마지막으로, 문장 단위를 넘어 담화 단위에서 문맥과 상황적 요인에 따른 관사의 용법을 학습시켜야 한다.

The teaching method of Spanish articles has not received much attention in the education of Spanish in Korea, and has not yet been able to provide well-developed teaching solutions to Korean learners, who have neither articles nor the notion of countable and uncountable nouns in their mother tongue. This paper, therefore, aims to propose suitable guideline and approach to the teaching of article use for Korean students learning Spanish. First, we will observe the learning circumstance of Korean learners and the difficulties that most Korean learners experience in the usage of articles. Secondly, we will review two approaches for the teaching of Spanish articles: functional approach and grammatical approach. It is essential that the choice of a methodological approach should be dependent on the characteristics of the native language and Spanish as the language of the goal, and the learning circumstance of Korean students. Lastly, considering these factors, we will propose more suitable teaching method in the usage of articles for Korean students learning Spanish.
