<국문초록>

 

리까르도 삐글리아의 『인공호흡』은 1970년대 말 아르헨티나 군부정권 시절의 어두운 역사를 탐정소설 양식으로 그리고 있다. 삐글리아는 공식 역사 뒤에 숨겨진 진실된 역사를 찾기 위해 다양한 형식을 도입한다. 장르의 벽을 허물고 소설, 에세이, 서간문, 대화, 인용 등 많은 이질적 형식을 도입하면서 권위적 정권의 목소리를 고발한다. 다양한 사람들의 목소리를 통해 황폐하고 마비된 당시 아르헨티나 현실의 조각을 끌어 모은다. 삐글리아는 이런 방식을 통해 이 작품이 콘텍스트로 삼고 있는 1970년대 후반 상황을 언급하지 않고서도 이 작품을 읽는 사람은 누구나 텍스트의 배경을 짐작할 수 있게 만든다. 작품 전체를 지배하는 애매모호함은 매 순간 독자들로 하여금 작가가 말하지 않은 것을 읽고, 듣게 만든다. 삐글리아는 그렇게 자연스럽게 “어떻게 이야기할 것인가?”의 문제를 넘어서 “어떻게 읽을 것인가?”에 대한 문제도 제시하고 있다. 『인공호흡』은 파편적 구성으로 억압적 현실에 대한 저항을 기호화한다. 그 결과 삐글리아는 ‘역사 너머 저 편에 있는 말할 수 없는 것을 말하기’라는 의미 있는 구조를 작품 전체에서 일관되게 표현하고 있다.

<영문초록>

In the argentine literary world, Ricardo Piglia is estimated as one of the famous writers which reinvented successfully the reality of the past to reveal the oppressive situation of Argentina. He thinks that it is necessary to understand the origin of complex problems of the present and the harms done to the nation. So he likes to write ideological and historical works. Ricardo Piglia, in his representative work Respiración artificial, tries to reveal the occult history and restitute the historical reality in the present to represent the violent situation of Argentina. This effort is to complete the present life of masses. This article attempts to examine the narrative structure and the critical vision represented in Respiración artificial. This study can lead us to understand the literary world of Ricardo Piglia.
