I’m Sun Ju PARK majoring in the economics of the European Union at the GSIAS. I served as an intern at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Belgium & the Korean Mission to the European Union in Brussels from February 20^th 2009 to August 12^th 2009 through an internship program with MOFAT (the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade).

Belgium has traditionally been an especially open country and was one of the original driving forces behind European unification. As the headquarters of the European Commission, the Council and many institutions linked to the EU, Brussels is most certainly entitled to call itself the capital of Europe. So, as I’m studying the European Union, I was fully enjoyed my internship in Brussels.

During my internship, I took part of economic sector and I have been mainly responsible for editing ‘Quarterly EU tendency’, preparing/sending ‘EU Weekly Policy’, reorganization of the websites of the Embassy (Belgium and EU), and  translating some tourist guides from English/French to Korean. And also, I assisted the Korean cultural activities such as Korean Culture festival “A Letter from Korea” in the European Parliament.

All those things offered me precious experiences to better understand, approach, and appreciate the European Union and the international relationships with other countries.

I strongly believe that opportunities come to those who look for them.
