We wish the year 2023, the Year of the Rabbit, brings you great health, happiness, prosperity, and peace!

AsiaTEFL celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. With your constant support and participation, AsiaTEFL has grown remarkably in both size and content, boasting about 19,000 members from all around the world who have gathered together with the shared goal of developing our profession: English language teaching in Asian contexts and cultures.

The 21st AsiaTEFL International Conference, or AsiaTEFL 2023, being held in celebration of our 20th anniversary, will take place at Daejeon Convention Center, Daejeon, S. Korea, August 17-20, 2023. The conference theme is “Celebrating ELT in Asia: Visions and Aspirations.”

Our hybrid conference is getting ready to host participants both in person and online. Our keynote speaker Dr. Youngsuk ‘YS’ Chi, Chairman of Elsevier, USA, will project the future of ELT from his global leadership perspective along with our plenary speakers: Prof. Jihyeon Jeon (S. Korea), Prof. Francisca Maria Ivone (Indonesia), Prof. Tariq Elyas (Saudi Arabia), Prof. Xuesong Andy Gao (Australia), Prof. Peter de Costa (USA), and Prof. Phyllis Ghim-Lian Chew (Singapore). This year’s conference becomes special by presenting our four Vice-Presidents as featured speakers: Profs. Masaki Oda, Qiufang Wen, Pragasit Sitthitikul, and Ramesh Nair. We also feature Prof. Jeongyean Kim, Journal managing editor, and Prof. Aurelio Vilbar, Regional Representative of the Philippines.
