HUFS Software Centric College won the top two prizes at the 2022 Data Youth Campus Outstanding Project Presentation and Awards held at 159 Studio, COEX, on September 23, 2022 (Friday). The two prizes were the Grand Prize and Excellence Prize awarded by the Minister of Science and ICT and the Director of Korea Data Agency, respectively.
Data Youth Campus (Data Youth Talent Cultivation Project) is an advanced talent cultivation program that provides practical data training to undergraduate and graduate students who wish to improve their data skills. At the competition, 20 of the program’s 129 projects passed the preliminary and main rounds and were invited to present their project for prizes.
The Grand Prize went to Team Vincenzo (Students Park Seon-Hong, Kim Yoon-Jeong, Park Young-Woong, Park Hyun-Jin, Lee Jung-Min, Jung Ae-Rin, and Cho Seok-Ryu) that presented its English pronunciation correction service project for those with visual impairment. Among all the benefits of listening education, the project focused on its pronunciation correcting effect and has developed a related web service.
The Excellence Prize was awarded to Team Rising Sun (Students Lee Dong-In, Oh Ji-Hwan, Jang Seung-Ho, Lee Ji-Hwan, Ryu Seong-Gi, Yang Geon-Ahn, Kim Jae-Won, and Jung Hoon-Seo) for its crop disease diagnosis web service using image capture. Based on the idea of using image capture to help urban farmers better understand and manage their crops, the team has developed a web service that describes the status of crops and diagnoses any identified diseases.
Designated as a Software Centric College in 2019, HUFS has been offering practical educational courses to nurture global convergence experts that can lead the AI era. With its efforts widely recognized, HUFS has been chosen to run the Data Youth Campus program for the second year in a row.
