HUFS University Knowledge Press and Content Center (Director Goh Yoon-Seong) won another project task from the National Information Society Agency (NIA) this year. The 10th Task of the NIA’s 2nd Learning Data Construction Project, which is worth KRW 2.5 billion, aims to build multi-lingual read-speech data for interpretation and translation. By winning this project task, the cumulative NIA project amount has been raised to KRW 12.1 billion (KRW 9.6 billion in the 1st project and KRW 2.5 billion in the 2nd project), a nearly three-fold increase from the previous year.
For the project, the Center will build 3,000 hours of large-volume corpora for Korean-to-English and Korean-to-other languages interpretation and translation training and assessment models. The corpora collected for speech recognition enhancement will be maintained by the Center and HUFS Data Center and used to develop HUFS’s exclusive speech recognition system.
Director Goh said, “Since last year, HUFS University Knowledge Press and Content Center and HUFS Data Center have been in close cooperation to further develop our university’s multidisciplinary capacity on the basis of our linguistic specialty, and I believe this effort has led to good outcomes this year. We will continue our collaboration with HUFS Data Center, building an HUFS-style business model that capitalizes on our linguistic expertise and new information technology.”
