After beginning its first lectures in March 1997 at nine area-specific departments, GSIAS has continuously expanded its fields of study by additionally establishing the Department of UPEACE in 2008 with dual-degree programs with the UN University for Peace; the Department of International Development Studies in March 2010 in collaboration with the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA); and the Department of International Studies in March 2018. Faculty members and students at GSIAS conduct research individually or affiliated with research institutes of HUFS, including the twelve area-specific ones. Furthermore, in March 2010, GSIAS opened its own research center - the Center for International Cooperation and Strategy (CICS) - to better meet the dynamic research demand and promote idea exchanges on contemporary global issues.
As the Dean of GSIAS, I pledge along with my fellow GSIAS faculty members to fiercely pursue continued improvement of GSIAS programs. While ceaselessly updating existing programs, GSIAS will keep adding contemporary subjects such as green growth, the fourth industrial revolution, and inter-Korean reconciliation while strengthening our global network for study abroad and internships, and exploring more opportunities for scholarships and fellowships. We truly believe that, with us, you will find the education and training that you seek at its finest.
Welcome aboard the flagship of GSIAS. Make your dreams of influencing the Five Oceans and the Six Continents come true!
