Currently, our world is facing various security threats. North Korea’s development of nuclear weapons and their missile tests are heightening the raised tensions on the Korean Peninsula. The maritime territorial disputes in South and East China Sea together with China’s military modernization and Japan’s transition to a ‘normal state’ status are increasing the military tensions in the region. Along with these traditional security threats, non-traditional security threats such as international terror and climate change are threatening regional stability and world peace as they create more complex security crises.

In order to find ways to solve the current security threats, cooperation between states is crucial. However, we are far from constructing trust-building measures and achieving political and military cooperation between countries. The Global Security Cooperation Center was established to seek cooperation on various threats to the Korean Peninsula and the world and make small but meaningful contribution to discourse on world peace.

The center is made up of security and regional experts in various fields and has prominent domestic and international experts as visiting research fellows. Since establishment, we have engaged in various security discussions through in-depth research activities, academic exchanges and expert meetings with other institutions both at home and abroad. We will continue to conduct appropriate and meaningful research and activities. Please give us great interest and support.

Thank you.
