Yo Sop Choi is Professor of Law at the Graduate School of International and Area Studies, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul. He specialises in Competition Law and European Union Law. His research interests mainly focus on comparative studies of competition law and digital policies related to data protection, artificial intelligence, and consumer protection law.
He earned his Bachelor's degree in Dutch from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, a Master's degree in Economics from the State University of New York at Buffalo and LLM degrees from Erasmus University Rotterdam and Durham University. Additionally, he obtained his PhD in Law from the University of Glasgow.
Professor Choi has served as a visiting scholar at various universities, including Keio University, European University Institute, University of Zurich, IE Law School, Heinrich Heine University Dusseldorf, Waseda University, National Taiwan University, Chiang Mai University, Osaka Metropolitan University, and Wuerzburg University. Before joining Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, he taught law at several universities in Korea, including Incheon University, Korea University, Kyoung Hee University, and Soongsil University .
He is a member of the Academic Society of Competition Law (ASCOLA), the Korean Competition Law Association (KCLA) and the Korea Media Management Association and also an affiliated scholar of Dynamic Competition Initiative (DCI). His articles have been published in peer review journals, including Asia Pacific Law Review, Computer Law & Security Review, IIC-International Review of Intellectual Property and Competition Law, European Competition Law Review, European Business Organization Law Review, Journal of African Law, Queen Mary Journal of Intellectual Property, and World Competition: Law and Economics Review.
