The MA and PhD courses in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) are designed for those who are interested in becoming effective teachers, researchers and leaders in the domains of ESL/EFL (English as a Second /Foreign Language) teaching, curriculum and course design, and teacher education in national and/or international institutions. Specifically, the MA and PhD graduates will have gained a strong theoretical knowledge of English language, second language acquisition, teaching methodology combined with extensive practical skills, course and material design, testing, classroom management, and research methods.

The main objectives of the programs are:

second language acquisition, and research methods needed to be successful
teachers, researchers and / or teacher educators.
2) to offer students the academic skills needed to design, implement and evaluate
researches based on a strong theoretical framework.
3) To provide students with the ability to develop their professional careers in the
    field of TESOL.

Courses in the TESOL program provide a solid academic and practical foundation in the following five areas:

  1) Theories of language learning and acquisition (L1 and L2)
  2) Language pedagogy and research methods
  3) Curriculum and materials design and development
  4) Linguistic theories in TESOL

The curriculum prepares students to conduct research in classrooms or other settings for the MA thesis or the PhD dissertation. The curriculum in TESOL integrates theories and practices from various fields of English education, applied linguistics, and educational technology to address the issues in foreign language teaching and learning. It also focuses on curriculum and program development in English education in a wide range of domestic as well as international contexts.
