한국외국어대학교 통번역대학은 국내의 학부과정에서는 유일하게 통번역 교육에 중점을 두는 단과대학입니다. 우리대학은 언어나 지역학, 어느 한쪽에 편중되었던 기존의 국내 외국어 교육 및 외국학 교육의 한계를 인식하는 데에서 출범하였습니다. 따라서 우리 대학은 능숙한 외국어실력은 물론 해당 지역에 대한 인문·사회과학적 지식을 겸비하고 더 나아가 타 민족과 인종에 대한 이해와 소통, 상생의 정신까지 갖춘 참다운 글로벌 인재를 키워내는 것을 교육목표로 하고 있습니다.

 

영어, 독일어 스페인어, 이탈리아어, 중국어, 아랍어, 일본어, 태국어, 말레

이-인도네시아어 총 9개의 개별 전공언어로 구성된 우리 통번역대학은 각 학과의 특성화된 교육 프로그램과 커리큘럼을 갖추고 있습니다.

 

또한 타 단과대학과 비교하여 16학점이 더 많은 총 150학점의 졸업인증학점을 요구함으로써, 통번역 전문가 양성을 위해 학생들에게 질적으로 뿐만 아니라 양적으로도 모자람이 없는 교육을 제공하고자 최선을 다하고 있습니다.

 

이와 더불어 통번역대학 가족들은 졸업을 위해 한국외국어대학교의 외국어 인증시험인 FLEX (Foreign Language EXamination)를 치러야 합니다. FLEX는 우리 통번역대학 가족들에게는 엄격한 졸업 심사 기준으로 작용합니다.

 

이밖에도 7+1 파견학생제도와 교환학생 및 KOTRA 인턴쉽, 외교통상부 인턴쉽 등 학교에서 시행하고 있는 각종 국제교환 학습 프로그램을 통해 뜻이 있는 통번역대학 가족들이라면 누구나 전방위에 걸친 실무 학습이 가능하도록 커리큘럼을 지원하고 있습니다.

 

우리 통번역대학은 글로벌 전문가 육성에 필요한 제반여건을 확충하고 적극적인 투자를 통해 최고의 교육기관으로 거듭나고자 총력을 기울이고 있습니다. 최고의 전문가 양성을 위한 동시통역시설, 전 좌석 개인별 PC, 실시간 영상녹화장비, 각종 어학관련 소프트웨어 등을 구비하고 있습니다. 앞으로도 다양한 최첨단 장비를 갖춘 멀티미디어 강의실 확보 및 확충이 계획되어 있습니다.

 

나아가서 우리 통번역대학은 학생들이 한국외국어대학교의 건학이념인 '진리‘, ’평화’, ‘창조’ 의 정신을 잇는 인격체로 성장할 수 있도록 개인과 개인, 민족과 민족, 더 나아가 인간과 자연이 서로 교류하며 공존하는 삶을 강조하고 있습니다. 우리는 궁극적으로는 인류 공동의 발전과 번영을 위해 서로 다른 이념과 민족 간의 학문 및 문화교류에 정진하여 인류 대화합의 토대를 마련하고자 합니다.

The College of Interpretation and Translation at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies is the only undergraduate-level institution in Korea that fully devotes itself to the study of interpretation and translation.

 

Its new curricula have been designed to overcome the shortcomings of the educational methods taken by most academic institutions for foreign studies in Korea, which tend to focus on either language or area studies.

 

Our students will thus develop essential character qualities for future global leaders pursuing mutual understanding, communication, and shared benefit among various cultures of the world.

 

The college of Interpretation and Translation consists of nine departments: English, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, Thai, Malay-Indonesian.

 

In order to receive sufficient training for interpretation and translation, our students are required to acquire a minimum of 150 credits to earn a B.A. degree (16 credits more than the other Colleges).

 

 They are also required to take the Foreign Language Examination (FLEX) developed by HUFS, which is a very strict set of graduation evaluation criteria. In addition to the student exchange programs such as 7+1 program, our extracurricular programs such as KOTRA internship, Ministry of Foreign Affairs internship, and other various school-funded international exchange education programs provide our students with extensive hands-on experience in various fields of industry.

 

The College of Interpretation and Translation has been constantly striving to win acclaim as a university of prestige on the global stage by actively investing and creating students and professors: simultaneous interpretation training rooms, audio-visual facilities, and language training softwares & PCs. Multimedia classrooms with various cutting-edge facilities are also being upgraded and newly constructed.

 

The College of Interpretation and Translation recognizes the educational philosophy of the University’s founders, “Truth, Peace and Creativity.” Students are nurtured to inherit this spirit and respect peaceful coexistence among different people and different nations, as well as between nature and humanity.
