Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships will be provided to qualified students who fall into one of these categories mentioned below. If you are interested in being considered for a scholarship, fill out our online application for ISS scholarships and submit supporting documents by email attachment before the deadline.

1. How to Apply

  Complete Online Application Form and email (summer@hufs.ac.kr) us with supporting documents as the table below says.

April 30 : Application Deadline for ISS Scholarships

3. GENERAL CONDITIONS

     * Exchange students are not eligible. Scholarships only apply to fee-paying students.

     * Students who are applying for any scholarships must register for two or more of ISS courses.

     * Students may apply for any or all scholarships for which they are eligible, but only one will be awarded.

     * Each scholarship is awarded on the basis of screening of documents submitted at the same time as this application.

     * The supporting documents should be submitted by email (summer@hufs.ac.kr) attachment before the application deadline in order for the ISS staff to process the application before the award announcement.

4. SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

Child of HUFS alumni
(외대동문 장학금)

Tuition waiver of USD 950 offered to child of HUFS alumni.

▷ Document to submit:

     1. Copy of the parent's graduation certificate

Outstanding Academic Record
(based on college transcript)
(학업성적 우수 장학금)

Tuition waivers of USD 1,900 & USD 950;
open to international students who have completed at least one full academic year of study
▷ Documents to submit:
    1. Letter of application explaining why you deserve a scholarship
    2. Your university transcript (showing GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or 3.9 on a 4.5 scale)
    3. Two letters of recommendation from professors which mention how your attendance
        at the ISS program will benefit your academic career.

Students from HUFS International Partner Universities
(자매대학교 재학생)

Tuition waiver of USD 950 offered to any student from a HUFS partner university.
(Officially designated "exchange students" should not apply for this scholarship.)
▷ Document to submit:
    1. Proof of student status at a HUFS partner university
       (e.g. copy of current academic year registration, letter from Study Abroad office certifying that you are anenrolled student, etc.)
      

※ Officially designated exchange students:
One or more students from a HUFS international partner university may be designated as official exchange students. Whether housing is provided during your stay at HUFS for ISS depends upon the specific bilateral institutional agreement in place.
Interested students should inquire about the agreement with HUFS in the international/study abroad office at their home institution.

Korean Studies / East Asian Studies Major from Non-partner Institution

(한국학 또는 아시아학 전공자)

Tuition waiver of USD 950; open to any international student majoring in Korean Studies, East / Asian Studies or closely related field, e.g. Asian Business, Asian Perfoming Arts, etc.

▷ Document to submit:

    1. Letter of application stating your major and explaining why you want to participate in ISS.

    2. Your university transcript

    3. Letter of recommendation from a professor explaining how your attendance at the ISS program will benefit your academic career.

Early bird Discount

USD 200 will be discounted if you transfer your total tuition until March 31.

(only for fee paying international students)

Korean Adoptees

Tuition waiver of USD 950; open to any Korean adoptee

▷ Document to submit:

    1. Letter of application stating why you want to participate in ISS

    2. Certified copy of your adoption paper

    3. Certified copy of your birth certificate
