정치분과

 

중국정치 분과에서는 현대 중국정치를 이해하기 위한 개괄적인 과목 (중국연구 입문, 중국학 연구방법, 중국정치 세미나, 비교정치와 중국)과 특정 주제를 다루는 다수의 심화과목을 개설하고 있다. 심화과목은 정책결정과정, 국가-사회 관계, 중앙-지방정부 관계, 도시화, 중국의 대외관계, 동아시아와 중국, 중국과 국제기구 등을 포함한다. 이와 같은 과목을 통해서 중국정치에서 나타나는 현상을 어떻게 설명하며, 중국정치를 어떻게 연구할 것인가를 고민한다.

 

 

 

[정치분과 개설과목]

 

1. Research Methods in Chinese Politics 중국정치 연구방법론

This course aims to enhance understanding of research methods in social sciences and applying them to Chinese studies. This course will be composed of four parts. First, we will cover basic understanding in research methods such as causal inference, theory, and concepts. Second, we will examine strengths and weaknesses of various methods in making causal inference. Third, we will examine various issues in applying research methods to Chinese studies. Fourth, at the end of the semester, students will make a presentation about their research proposals.

 

2. Seminar on Chinese Politics 중국정치 세미나

This course aims to enhance comprehensive understanding of Chinese politics. It includes the study of political institutions, including the Chinese Communist Party, People’s Congress, and the court. It also includes various topics such as political reforms, political elite, policy making, central-local government relations, and state-society relations.

 

3. Comparative Politics and China 비교정치와 중국

This course will study Chinese politics by incorporating theories in comparative politics. It aims to understand the contributions and limitations of existing theories to explain Chinese politics. This course will cover various topics such as authoritarian regime survival and political institutionalization.

 

4. Seminar on Policy Making in China 중국정책결정연

This course will examine various models to explain policy making in China. It will examine factors that affect policy making, including institutions and actors. It will examine various policy areas, including foreign policies and domestic policies.

 

5. Contemporary Political System and Institution 중국 현대 정치제도·기구론

The course covers contemporary China's political system and institutions and it focuses on the sustainability of current de facto mono-party political system.

 

6. China's Contemporary Political History 중국 현대 정치사

The course introduces students to political history of China since 1949. It emphasizes imperativeness of political changes in China and political force behind the transition.

 

7. China's External Relations 중국의 대외관계

The course deals with China's external relations in the context of political science of international affairs. It focuses China's foreign affairs since 1949 and its influence on the global political order.
