The doctoral and master’s programs of the HUFS Graduate School, Department of English Linguistics provides in-depth research on various concentration areas, grounded on students’ excellent proficiency in English. The Department aims to lead the development of the field by actively utilizing diverse opportunities offered by the informationalized industrial-technological society while maintaining the traditional humanistic value in the rapidly-changing world. Moreover, the Department attempts to globalize the study of English linguistics in Korea and general English education and contribute to the development of the field.

1. M.A Program: Master’s students are required to take three courses from the following five courses: (English) Syntax I, (English) Semantics I, (English) Phonology I, (English) Phonetics I, and History of English I. 2. Ph.D. Program: Doctoral students are required to take two courses in section II (e.g. ~II, Seminar, Research, etc.) from the following four courses: (English) Syntax, (English) Semantics, (English) Phonology, and (English) Phonetics. |

Prior to their dissertation defense, doctoral students are required to present at least one paper at a conference by an academic association enlisted on the Korean Research Foundation (KRF), or a national conference deemed equivalent, or an international conference. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
